How to treat wastewater in livestock farm?

Publish Time:2022-06-11   Views:177

livestock wastewater is the third largest source of pollution after industrial wastewater and Domestic wastewater. It has the characteristics of high organic matter concentration, high ammonia nitrogen concentration, high suspended solids and pathogenic bacteria content, etc. It is a kind of high-concentration organic wastewater that is difficult to treat.

Why does livestock wastewater need to be treated?

The livestock farm wastewater mainly includes urine, part of the feces and washing water, which is a high-concentration organic wastewater , and has a large content of suspended solids and ammonia nitrogen. After this untreated wastewater enters the natural water BODy, the content of suspended solids, organic matter and microorganisms in the water increases, changes the physical, chemical and biological community composition of the water BODy, and deteriorates the water quality. Sewage also contains a large number of pathogenic microorganisms, which will spread and spread through water BODies, endangering human and animal health.

The features of livestock wastewater

The aquaculture sewage has the typical "three high characteristics"

  • High concentration of organic matter, COD as high as 3000-12000mg/l,

  • Ammonia nitrogen up to 800-2200mg/l,

  • Suspended solids are dozens of times more than SS

And the chroma is deep, and contains a large number of bacteria, high content of ammonia nitrogen and organic phosphorus, good biodegradability, and large impact load.

Therefore, we need to follow the idea of developing circular economy, ecological agriculture and comprehensive utilization of resources, combined with the actual situation of pastures, it is recommended to use two-phase anaerobic and two-phase aerobic processes to treat aquaculture wastewater, and the effluent reaches the standard of farmland irrigation and reuse.

How to choose the treatment process of livestock wastewater

First of all, the actual effect of the treatment process should be considered, so that the removal effect of the treatment process meets the relevant requirements and the effluent quality meets the standard.

Secondly, the reliability and stability of the process should also be considered. With the change of external conditions, there will be certain changes in the water quality and quantity, so a stable and reliable process of the system is required.

Under the premise of ensuring that the standard is met, the economic indicators, floor space, operation management and other issues of the process should be considered to achieve a process with less investment, small floor space, and low operating costs as the design guiding ideology.

The solutions of treatment of livestock wastewater

Common governance methods are divided into three categories: physical method, chemical method, and biological method. Among them, the physical method has a low removal rate, and the chemical method has the risk of secondary pollution, so the biological method is the most economical and effective treatment method at present.

There are four main types of biological methods:

  1. Anaerobic treatment: low energy consumption, high organic load, low sludge output, and biogas can be generated, but the effluent does not meet the discharge standard;

  2. Aerobic treatment: complete sewage treatment, high energy consumption and large capital consumption;

  3. Natural treatment: the process is simple, the investment is small, and it is greatly constrained by natural conditions;

  4. Comprehensive treatment: mainly anaerobic treatment, combined with aerobic treatment and ecological treatment, is the method currently used by most pig farms. There are two types of comprehensive treatment: energy-friendly mode and energy-ecological mode.
